The 10th anniversary Eastern Economic Forum will feature a thematic platform dedicated to the successes of Russian winemaking. The VinoGrad space will once again become a centre of attraction for all participants of the EEF 2025. For those interested in vinting, VinoGrad will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the produce from a selection of vineyards operating in various regions of the country.

Dagestan is the oldest region on Russia’s wine map. The first vines appeared in the vicinity of the city of Derbent almost two thousand years ago, and the vineyards of the republic’s second major wine-growing area, the Terek River valley, were planted by Cossacks in the early 18th century. Today, Dagestan is a stronghold of modern Russian winemaking.

Derbent Wine is a young enterprise, construction of which began in 2011, and by 2018 the first bottles had already left its conveyor belt. The winery’s location is ideal for growing high-quality grapes. Today, the company’s fruit-bearing vineyards cover more than 1,500 hectares, which allows it to use only its own grapes in production. According to plans, the vineyard area will reach 2,000 hectares by 2030.

Not only the quantity but also the quality of the harvest is of key importance to Derbent Wine. Nature itself has created ideal conditions for growing grapes in the company’s vineyards: the proximity of the Caspian Sea ensures a mild climate with an average annual temperature of 13–13.5 degrees; the large difference between day and night temperatures contributes to better accumulation of sugar and aromatic substances in the fruit; and the long, warm autumn allows the harvest to remain on the vine longer for perfect ripening. The diversity of soils allows for the successful cultivation of classic European varieties. The enterprise is equipped with the state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, and quality control of the production process is ensured by its own laboratory. All this makes Derbent Wine the most progressive enterprise in the region, and Derbent itself the wine-making capital of Dagestan.

In addition to its educational function, the VinoGrad platform at the Eastern Economic Forum also aims to draw attention to a key event for the wine industry, organized by the Roscongress Foundation. The Russian Wine Forum will be held on 12–13 November 2025. The organizers include the Federal Union of Grape Growers and Winemakers of Russia Association, while the strategic scientific partner is the Kurchatov Institute National Research Centre. The Forum will serve as a platform for discussing trends, technologies, and prospects for the development of Russian winemaking.

The 10th Eastern Economic Forum will be held on 3–6 September at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. This year’s main theme is “The Far East: Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity”. The EEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
